Whitney Designs

John and Linda Whitney have been making jewelry since 1970. John studied sculpture and silversmithing at the University of Kansas. Linda is delightfully self-taught except for only a few of the most helful hints from John. In the beginning their work reflected the times, including peace signs, leather head bands, sand acndles, and, of course, jewelry. Their work has evolved, and now is it of a more whimsical nature, They have created colorful faeries, graceful acrobats, artistic portraits, powerful angels, and clever cats , as well as contemporary non-objective pieces.

The work is executed in mixed metals, using nickel silver, brass, and copper. Ancient heat patinas are applied along with descriptive color which is hand-painted with French pigments on polymer clay.
