Renaissance Glass

The glass used in these beautiful pieces is called dichroic glass. The colors are a result of micro-thin layers of metal oxides within the piece. The light is bent as it enters the glass and returns to the eye as brilliant color. Unlike dyes or pigments, most of the light is reflected back directly to the eye, much like a rainbow. This accounts for the unusual brilliance of the glass. Each piece is made up of five to six layers of glass, fired to over 1400 degrees, each firing taking several hours. This layering produces pieces that are not only beautiful, but durable. All glass is set in sterling silver.
